This is a song that I wrote (the first half anyway) whilst sat on the rug in our lounge looking out the window at some birds on a crisp winter's day. I was thinking in general about how people complain about the weather and how dull looking days make us all feel a bit down - I feel that way too - everything always seems so much better when the sun is shining. I was thinking how all the beauty of nature is still present even though the light isn't really doing it any favours, and it's not really very fair to have a negative opinion of something - when it can't help it! lol. So that was where the idea came from. The rest of the song is based on a constant longing to find something and forgetting what really matters. Along with the feeling of disenchantment, pessimism, optimism, and how some things don't seem to have a reason for happening, personal struggles, hidden beauty, contentment, living and some other stuff too. PS - I used Alan Rickman as the actor for reasons other than yumminess. 1. 21st February is his birthday - when I uploaded the vid. 2. Once he said this... (well Wikiquote says ...

In addition to the marvelous songs that you write, the videos that I have seen of your work are quite effective and definitely add something to the work over all. Your frantic thrashing at the guitar from about 3:00 onward fits quite well with the theme of disappointment and the depth of the frustration that it can cause. I am constantly amazed at the maturity of your work and your talent.

@ghia2x you are so lucky — I wish I could discover her all over again– I have been a fan of hers since 1976 — 35 years wow– I listen to her when I work and certain songs of hers,, after all these years immediately take me back to where I was when I first heard them– I hope the same happens for you– she always used the most top notch musicians available — there are quite a few wonderful albums– I just know you will really enjoy her talent–happy listening

All my dreams and hopes were sucked into a colossal whirlpool of disappointments and betrayal on coming to Alberta. This song, however, made me forgive all Canadians for my pains. It is wonderfully soothing for anyone who went through what I went through in pursuit of dreams. Wow! Joni, you rock!!!!!
